Zeropoint 528 and the Mumue Film Campaign are delighted to be partnering with NIGEE in Kenya who are an on-the-ground and active organisation supporting the empowerment and education of girls.

The Mumue film aims to lead our planned global campaign to enlighten girls globally. The intention puts a spotlight on female empowerment and education goals via the International Festival circuit with distribution to international broadcasters thereafter. The Mumue Campaign partners with NIGEE  and others to spread awareness about their work on the ground, inviting support both for them directly and the Mumue film and related projects. 20% of the profits of all funds raised on the sales of the short film and related projects go directly to the partner foundations to aid their valuable work on the ground.

The idea of forming Nyanza Initiative for Girls Education and Empowerment (NIGEE) originated in 2011 from a handful of visionary staff working with Impact Research & Development Organization (IRDO), a local organization implementing HIV/AIDS interventions in Nyanza Province (Western Kenya). NIGEE intervenes through a girl-led media and advocacy model which targets the girl in school, the girl in the community, the girl at home, and the girl herself. Our girl-led activities are always spearheaded by NIGEE Girls Steering Committee (GSC) comprising of current and former beneficiaries who ensure their agenda challenge cultural norms which discriminate against and undermine women development and violates their human rights like child marriage, sexual and gender-based violence and Female Genital Mutilation (FGM).

Why are we supporting girls empowerment ?

Mumue , The Light of Freedom

Child marriage is a truly global issue that cuts across countries, cultures, religions and ethnicities. Child brides can be found in every region in the world, from the Middle East to Latin America, South Asia to Europe.

Using an empowerment approach can lead to positive outcomes for girls and their families by supporting girls to become agents of change, ultimately helping them to forge their own pathway in life.

Freedom is our birthright through active choice, we can transcend victimhood and step into the light of our potential.
